A2IM Indie Week: Keynote Speakers Madeline Nelson (Amazon Music) and Jennifer Masset (Spotify) Announced!

New York, NY (April 19, 2023) – A2IM is proud to announce! the A2IM Indie Week 2023 conference keynotes from Tuesday, June 13 to Thursday, June 15 at the InterContinental New York Times Square. The Opening Night Party Presented by ADA on Monday, June 12 will kick-off the conference for badge holders only. This year’s keynotes include Jennifer Masset (Global Head of Indies, Commercial Partnerships at Spotify, and the creator of Indie Week) and Madeline Nelson (U.S. Head of Independent Label Relations at Amazon Music).

Madeline Nelson said, “Participating in Indie Week 2023 is a huge honor for me. I have witnessed, firsthand, the work and advocacy of A2IM, and taking the stage this year, feels like going home. The independent music community, as a whole, should join Indie Week, whether in person or online, because there is no better lineup of speakers, panels, or workshops, anywhere.”

In addition, the Recording Academy will host a special high-level session to discuss strengthening and building trust with the independent music community.

Further programming includes a Web3 Series on “Why the Independents Are Best Positioned to Capitalize, moderated by Vickie Nauman a music, rights, and technology expert and founder/CEO of A2IM member company, CrossBorderWorks. The series of panels will focus on fan engagement, monetization, and rights management. The goal is to share actionable information that applies uniquely to the Independent community. 

Plus the CLE (Continuing Legal Education) presented by Coveylaw – an A2IM member – will host three, 1-credit sessions about artist visas, sync licensing, and using contracts to promote more equitable relationships.

Each year A2IM Indie Week hosts over 60+ panels and workshops, 1,800 curated business meetings, and countless opportunities tailor-made for the independent sector’s unique needs.

In addition, The Libera Awards ceremony will cap off the week, honoring the best of today’s independent music and spirit, taking place at the historic Town Hall on Thursday, June 15, and open to the public. Paying homage to those who paved the way, The Libera Awards brings together musical pioneers who continue to build on a rich legacy of independence for a night of performances, celebration, and wall-to-wall music revue across all genres. Ticket holders are also invited to an exclusive afterparty and dinner at the Hard Rock Café to connect with the who’s-who of the independent sector and will have the opportunity to network, socialize, and celebrate with friends, colleagues, and industry leaders – tickets are on sale now.
