With three brand new categories, the 2024 edition of the famous Libera Awards is now accepting submissions through December 4!
New York, New York (October 16, 2023) – A2IM (The American Association of Independent Music, Inc.) announces that submissions are now open for the 2024 A2IM Libera Awards, the premier awards for independent music. Celebrating and uplifting the diverse and groundbreaking independent music sector since 2012, this year’s Libera Awards event will feature the addition of three exciting new categories.
Best Record From Games and Interactive Media will recognize the growing importance of video game music and honor outstanding original music composed for video games. Publisher of the Year will honor the publishing company that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to songwriters, composers, and the broader independent industry. Distributor of the Year will celebrate the distributor that has made significant contributions to the distribution of independent music. The submission deadline is December 4, 2023. The 2023 Libera Awards presented by Merlin, was the largest Libera Awards to date, taking place at the Town Hall in midtown Manhattan, and hosted by multi-hyphenate, Hannibal Buress. Notable winners included Wet Leg (who took home 5 awards, including Record of the Year), Sudan Archives, Run The Jewels, Big Thief, Low, The Linda Lindas, Captured Tracks, Partisan Records, Innovative Leisure, and Bandcamp. The night included spectacular performances from GRAMMY-nominated artists Margo Price, and Shemekia Copeland, Latin GRAMMY-nominated artist Gaby Moreno, plus Dawn Richard + Spencer Zahn, Sudan Archives, Seratones, Tamtam, Marshall Allen and The Sun Ra Arkestra, and the legendary Martha Reeves.
