Export Trade Mission Opportunity: Canadian Music Week: May 7-10 in Toronto – 50% Reimbursement of Expenses

Posted in Events, News by A2IM

CMW 2014As noted last week A2IM is soliciting member applications to attend Canadian Music Week from May 7th thru 10th. Canadian Music Week is the preeminent Canadian music conference which covers all industry bases from radio to social media to publishing to touring and more.

In addition, as is done on all A2IM trade missions, there will be A2IM/Canadian Music Week curated one-on-one business meetings on Thursday May 8th from 3PM to 5PM with potential Canadian export partners covering music labels, distribution companies, licensing including syncs, touring & merchandise, etc. as was done on previous A2IM export trade missions to Asia, Brazil and South Africa (plus Midem for the past two years).

Under the U.S. Commerce ITA MDCP program A2IM will reimburse 50% of eligible expenses (up to a $900 payment against $1,800 of eligible expenses) toward attendance at CMW amounts we expect will cover your costs.  Please note that the we will receive an excellent group rate for registrations but please also note that the trip is subject to certain U.S. Commerce spending restrictions, for example you must fly an American carrier in coach and meals are subject to daily per diem limits with no alcohol reimbursement allowed. In addition due to government caps on hotel costs we will not be able to stay at the conference hotel, Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel ,  but will stay at a very nice nearby hotel, the  Eaton Chelsea Hotel, which is within walking distance of the conference hotel. Participants can upgrade to the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel at their own expense. Additionally. the goal of the export program is to support music labels new to export and support music labels looking to expand their export businesses. Quarterly reports on export progress by participants will be due for a period of 3 years. The MDCP application is HERE. Please send completed MDCP applications to Sheryl Cohen (sheryl@a2im.org) before the MDCP application deadline of Wednesday, March 19th. We need a minimum of 12 people, who did not attend this conference in 2013, to green light this trip. Priority will be given to A2IM music label members.

We thank our supporters at U.S. Commerce ITA and MDCP for their support of our member’s export initiatives! We also thanks our colleagues at Canadian Music Week. Canadian Music Week will be A2IM’s fifth export support opportunity. Previous Commerce ITA supported Trade missions have included MIDEM 2013 and a mission to Brazil this past April, as well as Midem 2013 and 2014 support. There were also a September 2013 trip to Asia and to South Africa which were funded by the U.S. SBA and NY State and Tennessee.
