A2IM Featured Executive: Pouria Assadipour, CTO & Co-Founder, Beatdapp

Pouria Assadipour, BeatdappWelcome to A2IM’s Featured Executive feature. We will highlight executives making moves and supporting the growth of the independent community. Do you or someone you know fit the bill? Submit an executive here. Please meet this week’s featured executive, Pouria Assadipour, CTO & Co-Founder of Beatdapp.

Pouria Assadipour is the CTO & co-founder of Beatdapp where he leads a rapidly growing technical team. Pouria is a senior developer with nearly 10 years of full stack experience. In addition, 3 of those years have been a focus on cryptographic technologies prior to joining Beatdapp. Previously, Pouria worked as a senior developer and technical product manager during his time at EasyMarkit. He also worked alongside professors at UBC, which is where he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, building and maintaining multiple websites across the university. Pouria stands out as an executive for three reasons: technical mastery, empathy and leadership. What sets Pouria apart–beyond being a domain expert which is commendable in its own right–is how his team responds to him, and how he responds to his team.

When it comes to leadership, two short notes from another colleague illustrate his management style and how it makes his team feel equal measures empowered and supported. A team member notes: “Pouria has been selfless in putting his team first. During the initial covid lockdown when my laptop was broken, Pouria offered to take it into repairs for me because he knew I was living with high risk family members in my household.”

We think it’s true that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. Pouria cares a lot, and shows it to his team in these humble and meaningful ways. When it comes to leadership, he makes his team feel equal measures empowered and supported.

During Beatdapp’s first weeks as a fully distributed team in response to COVID, the company onboarded seven new developers to Pouria’s team. To bridge the distance imposed by remote work, Pouria arranged for each existing developer to have a 30 minute “get to know you” call with the new hires. Following those calls, one of our existing team members noted that “all 7 newly hired developers mentioned the effort and patience Pouria put into the onboarding experience.” That is an uncommon thread to discover and speaks volumes about his leadership style.

Beatdapp is grateful to have in Pouria Assadipour a technically gifted leader who demonstrates the depth of his character in equal measure to the calibre of his code.
