Jennifer Masset to Depart from A2IM

Dear Members,

A2IM is losing an extraordinary colleague. It is beyond the space we have here to sum up what Jen Masset has achieved in her nearly 8 years at A2IM but suffice it say that she will be greatly missed by the entire A2IM team.

Jen created her role as Senior Director Member Services for the Associate Members and subsequently cultivated the program into one that enhances industry dialog and adds immense value to A2IM’s label membership.

I first met her as the powerhouse “Queen of the One-on-Ones” when I was still a Label Member. The event was a blur of shoulder-to-shoulder musical chairs and I walked away slightly stunned but significantly better informed. Jen cultivated our One-on-Ones with unparalleled passion and they have become an essential feature of Indie Week, our SynchUp events, A2IM’s SXSW breakfast and anytime there is an opportunity for an Associate Member to sit for ten minutes with a Label Member.

Parsing everything Jen has done for A2IM and the Independent community is impossible; her personality and boundless energy are woven tightly into the fabric of what A2IM has become over the past decade. The good news is that Jen is not leaving our community. I am not at liberty to say where she is going (that will be announced in January) but it is a wonderful career opportunity for her and one that will open up even more potential for the Independent labels and their artists.

We are sorry to lose you Jen. We thank you for everything you have done for the A2IM community and wish you the best of  luck in this next exciting phase of your career. We are proud of you.

About A2IM:
A2IM is a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit trade organization headquartered in New York City that exists to support and strengthen the independent recorded music sector. Membership currently includes a broad coalition of more than 700 Independently-owned American music labels. A2IM represents these independently owned small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) interests in the marketplace, in the media, on Capitol Hill, and as part of the global music community. In doing so, it supports a key segment of America’s creative class that represents America’s diverse musical cultural heritage. Billboard Magazine identified the Independent music label sector as 37.32 percent of the music industry’s U.S. recorded music sales market in 2016 based on copyright ownership, making Independent labels collectively the largest music industry sector.
