BuzzAngle Music Announces the A2IM Indie Chart, Dynamic Snapshots of America’s Independent Music Business
The music data provider now offers charts for independent artists and labels in the U.S., in collaboration with A2IM
Take away the majors, and music charts get a whole lot more interesting and diverse. BuzzAngle Music, the big-data answer to music consumption tracking, has teamed up with A2IM, the US trade group representing the country’s most dynamic independent labels to create a U.S. Indie Chart. This public, filterable chart will reflect this fast-growing, musically creative segment of the market in a more robust, focused way.
“This independent chart for the U.S. will show what’s going on in a very intriguing segment of the business,” explains BuzzAngle Music CEO Jim Lidestri. “It will reflect the hot spots, scenes, and movements powering the music business.”
These charts will show the power of BuzzAngle’s fast data processing, which happens daily, not weekly. The charts will be publicly available and filterable by six different criteria (and many more, for professional users), including geography (down to the city level), consumption type, and dozens of genres, allowing for more than 250,000 unique report combinations.
“Independent labels and artist supporters need data as much as, or more than the major distributors, and they need that data to be fast, granular, and affordable”, Lidestri continues. Independent labels and distributors such as Beggars Group, Glassnote, Razor & Tie, Victory Records, Epitaph Records, Eleven Seven Music, Dualtone Music Group (an Entertainment One company) and Hillsong Music Australia are all customers of the BuzzAngle Music service.
“We have never had an accurate independent music chart and we are excited to partner with BuzzAngle for these Indie Charts and to begin to identify true independent music market share,” says Richard Burgess, A2IM President. “Independent music deserves to be highlighted in a focused and data-driven format.”
The A2IM Indie Chart is available here.
