Dear A2IM Community,
Big radio and their powerful lobbyists in Washington, DC hit the ground running in 2020.
In the past few weeks, they’ve put a great deal of time, money and energy into recruiting more congresspeople for the Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA). But, LRFA is not about supporting local radio.
LRFA is designed to protect the legal exemption that guarantees Big Radio doesn’t have to pay music creators for the use of their hard work. The word “Freedom” in LRFA stands for Big Radio’s free use and monetization of our copyrights. They use our music for free and they make billions directly from that usage.
All other major music platforms, including streaming services, satellite radio and even broadcast radio in other countries pay artists. But not AM/FM radio here in the U.S.
It is not right. Click here to send your member of Congress a message urging them to keep their name off LRFA. Tell them to stand with hardworking music creators, not billion-dollar broadcasters.
If your member of Congress has already signed on to LRFA, you can still send a message. Let them know that you’re disappointed they fell for Big Radio’s lies. Ask them to withdraw their support for this resolution that benefits giant corporations at the expense of artists.
Broadcasters refuse to pay music creators, despite profiting greatly off of their work. It’s time to fix this broken system. Tell Congress to stand with artists and reject LRFA.
