Associate Member Spotlight: SoundExchange

An Ally for the Independent Music Community

SoundExchange would like to thank every member of the independent music community for the continuing opportunity to support your music career.

As a demonstration of our support, SoundExchange salutes independent artist and label members with a new “Declarations of Independents” initiative that captures and champions the spirit, drive and music of indies. Check out our video below featuring Oh Boy Records (Eileen Tilson and Jody Whelan), Weirdo Workshop (Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony), CandyShop Recordings’ Los Angeles-based indie rock band The Mowgli’s, and Title 9 Productions singer-songwriter, Melanie Fiona.

At SoundExchange, we remain deeply engaged with the important work of the creative women and men of the independent music community. That includes transparently and efficiently processing your royalties and participating in rate settings to ensure fair pay for all creators.

SoundExchange is doing the business … that most musicians don’t often spend enough time doing. They’re fighting the big fights and the small fights for you to be protected in every way.    – Claude Kelly, Weirdo Workshop

We’ll share many independent stories and more “declarations” throughout the year, giving voice to artists and labels who represent this vital part of the music industry. In addition, SoundExchange will be at South by Southwest® this week, hosting the SoundExchange SESSIONS on Thursday, March 15 at Mohawk.
