A recent NYU study led by Larry Miller, Director of New York University’s Steinhardt Music Business Program. The study found that while broadcast radio is declining in popularity among the younger generation, streaming services continue to rise. Only 19% of those surveyed cited broadcast radio as a way that they keep in touch with today’s popular music. The report makes the case that broadcast radio stations must innovate in order to survive and compete with increasingly popular digital streaming services, or risk being left behind.
