A2IM and our member labels congratulate Robb McDaniels (Founder/CEO) of INgrooves/Fontana on their 10th Anniversary and Glenn Dicker (Co-Owner) and Tor Hansen (Co-Owner/A2IM Board Member) of Redeye Distribution/YepRoc Records on their 15th anniversary. We thank both of them for their many years of service to the independent music label community.

A2IM at Grammy GPS Event in Atlanta

Over the summer the Atlanta Chapter had a very successful event on Navigating the Music Business: A Roadmap for Today’s Music Biz. The final panel, titled Indie Revolution, was moderated by A2IM President Richard Bengloff and featured A2IM members including A2IM board member and Redeye Distribution and YepRoc Records co-owner/co-founder Tor Hansen, folk/rock artist and founder of MPress Records Rachael Sage, Beggars/4AD artist Deerhunter’s drummer/keyboardist Moses Archuleta and hip-hop artist Aleon Craft, talking about the benefits of being a part of the growing independent music community. A2IM Announces 2011 Board of Directors Election Results; Expands to Reflect Rapid Membership Growth

A2IM, the American Association of Independent Music, has announced the results of their 2011 Board of Directors elections as voted by the A2IM label membership.

A2IM’s membership has more than doubled in size over the past six years and as a result, its current board is expanding from 9 to 11 seats with the induction of five new members. This year, the organization had its largest-ever pool of 18 nominees running for election. Additionally, A2IM welcomes three new members of the President’s Advisory Committee, appointed by President Rich Bengloff to assist and lend expertise to organization. Both the nominees and winners represent the broad diversity of genres, geographic locations, and label sizes among A2IM membership.

Newly elected A2IM Board of Directors (listed alphabetically):
-Priya Dewan (US Label Manager, Warp Records)

-Bruce Iglauer (Founder/CEO, Alligator Records)

The new board’s term will begin on July 4, 2011 and will officially be introduced during the organization’s 6th Anniversary Indie Week in NYC June 21-23.

A2IM Election 2011: The Candidates

A2IM’s annual Board of Directors election will open for voting on Monday, May 9th (with every label member’s primary contact for A2IM possessing the right to vote).  Once again we have an exciting (and large) list of members who have stepped up or accepted nomination to run for election to the A2IM board of directors.

A2IM members will be voting to fill five seats from the below list of candidates (alphabetical by company).
