A2IM Chicago Licensing Day 2012 (Dec 4)

A2IM will present its 3rd Annual Chicago Licensing Day on Tuesday, December 4 at 6PM at the offices of Music Dealers, 328 S. Jefferson Suite 260, Chicago, map.

The panel will feature Jocelyn Brown of DDB, Matthew Jacobson of Digitas, Gabe McDonough of Leo Burnett, Marisa Wasser of McGarry Bowen, and Dan Kuypers of Music Dealers and will be moderated by Jeremy Peters of Ghostly International. Bios HERE.

A2IM LA Licensing Day 2012 (Oct 23)

A2IM’s Licensing & Publishing Committee will bring new licensing opportunities to our members at the next LA Licensing Day on Tuesday, October 23 from 4PM-7PM at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP (11377 W. Olympic Blvd, LA, map).

This year’s event will be focused on “Licensing: The New Frontier” with two panels looking into new revenue streams coming from emerging platforms.

The first panel will look into opportunities in broadcast vs. internet TV and how the TV model is evolving. Panelists include PJ Bloom of Neophonic, Brian McNelis of Lakeshore Entertainment, and Bob Thiele Jr. The panel will be moderated by David Bakula of Nielsen.

The second panel will look at revenue coming from your existing content with input from panelists Vickie Nauman of 7digital, Bryan Mead of INgrooves Fontana, Cheryl Breindel of RoyaltyShare, and Bob Mocydiowsky of Topspin. This discussion will be moderated by Jason Feinberg of Epitaph / anti- Records.

A2IM Licensing Day with AIMP (NYC, Feb 15)

A2IM’s Licensing & Publishing Committee and AIMP will present the next Licensing Day on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4PM – 8PM at the Jolly Hotel (22 E. 38th Street @ Madison Ave, NYC, map). Three panels will run from 4PM – 7PM and then all attendees are invited to the Whaler Bar within the Jolly Hotel for Happy Hour Specials from 7PM – 8PM.

#1: Merchandising (presented by AIMP) – Merchandisers discuss the process for clearing and incorporating copyrights in products for sale. Moderated by Mary Beth Roberts of High Standards Unlimited. A2IM Licensing Day 2011 (Chicago, Sept 15)

The Licensing & Publishing Committee of the American Association of Independent Music (”A2IM”) is planning a Licensing Day event for A2IM members at the offices of The Recording Academy Chicago Chapter (303 W. Erie St., Suite 210, Chicago, map) on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 from 3-7PM.

Join us for our 2nd Annual Chicago Licensing Day for an insider look at brands integrating with bands to maximize campaign impact. Our panelists will discuss non-traditional licenses with brands being more open to new ideas and integrating Facebook apps, downloads, etc.; how brands and agencies execute the artist & music involvement for their campaigns; and how labels and agencies can be creative in accessing various budgets to involve artist fanbases and maximize brand impact. Panelists will include Bonny Dolan from Comma Music, Eric Johnson from DDB, Stump Mahoney from Draftfcb, Gabe McDonough from Leo Burnett, Chuck Bein from See Music and Michael Pallen from VerveLife; moderated by Jeremy Peters of Ghostly International.

A2IM Licensing Day 2011 (LA, Oct 26)

A2IM will be hosting a Licensing Day for our members on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 4PM – 7PM at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP (11377 W. Olympic Blvd., LA, CA, map). This event is being planned by A2IM’s Licensing & Publishing Committee.

Two panels will cover soundtracks and music supervision.

PANELS:

Future of the Soundtrack - Is the soundtrack dying especially with the advent of streaming music services paying people based on ISRC rather than UPC codes? Some labels and studios are doing disc on demand rather than manufacturing, distributing, and promoting soundtracks. What is next for the soundtrack? Panelists include David Hirshland of Bug Music, Brian McNelis of Lakeshore Entertainment, Steven Vincent of Disney, and Russell Ziecker of Lions Gate. This panel will be moderated by Amos Biegun of Counterpoint Systems.  Bios for moderator and panelists HERE.

Music Supervision – Music supervisors discuss the process, timelines, budgets, and other licensing options needed to maximize impact for music licensed (ie digital rights, downloads, soundtracks, all media). Panelists include Peter Afterman, Ellen Ginsburg of Fox, and Wendy Levy. This panel will be moderated by Lucille Hunt of Mack Avenue.  Bios for moderator and panelists HERE.
