Intellectual Property Rights Seminar for Exporters

The Fashion Institute of Technology Department of International Trade and Marketing, the Department of Commerce’s Office of Intellectual Property Rights, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Commercial Service, and the New York District Export Council, cordially invite you to attend the STOPfakes.gov Road Show, an Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Outreach Program. This is an opportunity to learn the basics of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and about the U.S. government resources available to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) protect their IPR at home and abroad. This three-hour program will feature presentations by intellectual property experts and law enforcement officials, followed by an open discussion with experts from industry and government.

Seminar topics will include:

  • What is intellectual property?
  • Understanding the basics of obtaining Intellectual property rights in the U.S./resources
  • Understanding the basics of obtaining intellectual property rights in other countries/resources
  • How to enforce your intellectual property rights in the U.S./resources
  • How to enforce your intellectual property rights overseas/resources

This program is brought to you under the National Export Initiative and is co-organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of Intellectual Property Rights, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the National IPR Coordination Center.

A2IM Libera Awards Participation – Call for Artists who DJ

Do you have an artist signed to your label who can entertain a crowd as a DJ?  If so, would she or he be interested in doing a DJ set during the 2013 A2IM Libera Awards?

The A2IM Awards Committee is planning the 2013 LIBBYs and is interested in having a select few well known independent artists DJ short, multi-genre sets during the awards party.  If you have an artist who is well known, knows his or her way around a cross-fader, and has a wide and deep knowledge/collection of independent music please contact Sheryl@A2IM.org asap.

The 2013 A2IM Libera Awards event will be held in NYC on Thursday, June 20, 2013.  More details to come!

Nadler For Congress in Backbeat

Billboard Magazine’s Friday, Sept 7th issue included a picture of the Independent Music Community’s “Nadler for Congress” Breakfast in Backbeat.

As previously reported, the Independent Music Community organized the breakfast event to thank Congressman Jerry Nadler for his years of support of the music creator community’s copyrights and his support of the proposed Performance Right Act to get artists and music labels compensated when their music is played on over-the air AM/FM radio.

The breakfast which was hosted by Rich Bengloff ( A2IM) and Elizabeth Healy (The Recording Academy®). Contribution hosts were: Rich, Daryl Friedman (The Recording Academy®), Daniel Glass (Glassnote), Patti Hauseman (Paradigm), Joe Kennedy (Pandora), Jurgen Korduletsch (Gummybear International), Allen Kovac (Eleven Seven Music/10th Street Entertainment), Jim Mahoney (A2IM), Pat Rains (PRA Records), Scott Ambrose Reilly (X5 Music), Thomas Silverman (Tommy Boy Records), Ed Vetri (Wind-Up Records) & Victor Zaraya (Razor & Tie) raised $5000 for the congressman.

On Tuesday, August 21st, The Independent Music community held a “Nadler For Congress” Breakfast event at the Union Square Coffee Shop in New York City. A2IM and the Independent Music Community organized the event to thank Congressman Jerry Nadler for his years of support of the music creator community’s copyrights and his support of the proposed Performance Right Act to get artists and music labels compensated when their music is played on over-the air AM/FM radio.
