Independent labels thriving in today’s music industry are making sure they leave no revenue stream untapped. As most of our members are aware, master owners (and performing artists) are due a royalty when their sound recordings are performed on digital cable and satellite television music, internet radio, and satellite radio (such as SiriusXM). In the U.S. these royalties are collected and distributed by SoundExchange.

Due to inclement weather in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States (including the transportation/communication breakdown in Washington D.C.), SoundExchange has postponed the call scheduled for Wednesday, February 10th and rescheduled the Webinar to Friday, February 19th from 2-3pm EST.

All Independent Labels should participate in this SoundExchange/A2IM Webinar (Friday, 2/19; 2p-3p EST).
Even if you are already registered to collect royalties from SoundExchange,
you may be missing money owed to you due to incorrect data!

Record Store Day will fall on Saturday, April 17, 2010. It’s now time to begin planning the creation of both commercial and promotional products. We encourage you to support these remaining independent music stores that create the future music lovers of tomorrow. These accounts, unlike mainstream retail and radio, are more willing to try and promote new music (look at their charts each week!). For an overview of both promotional and commercial RSD products for 2008 and 2009, click here to view.
Deadlines are upon us, the first is February, see link below.
Let’s help our retail partners and in turn capitalize on the opportunities presented by Record Store Day.
