Vinyl Records: Urban Outfitters

Posted in News by A2IM

The physical retail scene continues to transform, with the Independent music retail coalitions leading the way via their Record Store Day event and Black Friday event, and the explosion in vinyl sales (mostly Indie!).  There is an interesting article in the current edition of the Village Voice by former Shore Fire publicist colleague Chris Chafin that is focused on Urban Outfitters lifestyle marketing sales of physical music. Chris’ discussion of these initiatives includes interviews with three A2IM member companies (SynchTank, Sub Pop Records & Redeye Distribution) on that market segment which we thought you would find interesting. Yesterday the NY Times had an article on the vinyl resurgence and had numbers for Vampire Weekend and The National and had a quote by founding A2IM board member Glenn Morrow of Bar None.
