Each year, the Americana Music Festival & Conference brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars and industry professionals for four days of music and education. Our event will take place September 12-15, 2012, gathering thousands of artists, fans and industry professionals from all over the world in Nashville, TN.
The Americana Music Conference features numerous panels, seminars and much more, proudly providing Nashville’s most educational music industry forum. This special event covers the interests and needs of artists, managers, labels, radio stations, publishers, agents, promoters, retailers, legal and business affairs executives, merchandisers and new media professionals – all enthusiastically attended and presented by music industry leaders.
Daytime conference activities and sessions are held at our host hotel, the Sheraton Nashville Downtown. Evening showcases are held at five prestigious downtown music venues. A ticket to the highly acclaimed Honors and Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium is included in your registration, and as usual, an overwhelming majority of the nominees are on A2IM member labels! Simply put, the Americana Conference has something for anyone who’s passionate about music.
Following the 2011 Americana Music Awards where A2IM member label artists won five of the six awards, in 2012 Independent labels again are leading the way with almost all of the nominations, including all four of the album of the year nominations. Leading the way in nominations is Acony Records’ Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings with a combined four nominations and we also congratulate New West Records with four nominations covering three of their artists. We also congratulate ATO Records, Bloodshot, Icehouse, Red Beet, and sensibility music for their artist’s nominations. Last night at the Americana Music Association’s 10th annual Honors and Awards Show, the emergence of independent music labels and artists was highlighted as 5 of the 6 awards presented at the sold out show went to A2IM label member artists.
The stellar show, held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, was highlighted by Lifetime Achievement for Performance winner, Gregg Allman of Rounder Records.
The awards winners were led by Buddy Miller of New West Records who won two awards, one for Artist of the Year as well as Instrumentalist of the Year. Album of the Year was won by Rounder Record’s Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. Song of the Year was won by Bloodshot Record’s Justin Townes Earle for Harlem River Blues and New Artist of the Year winner was Glassnote Record’s Mumford and Sons.
