Sixx:AM Leads Artist’s Charge Against YouTube

Motley Crüe co-founder Nikki Sixx (Eleven Seven Entertainment) has started a campaign urging YouTube to “Do The Right Thing” over artist royalty payouts. He has been joined by Debbie Harry, with the list of artists who sign on expected to grow, in calling for YouTube to pay more money to musicians for using their videos.

A2IM supports this cause and has spoken out against the current language of the ‘safe harbor’ provision of the DMCA. As previously reported, A2IM has joined nineteen other major music industry organizations and over 400 songwriters, artists and managers to call upon the U.S Copyright Office to reform the misused “safe harbor” provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and its broken “notice and takedown” system.  A2IM will be participating in The Copyright Office round table discussions on the issue next month in NYC and SF.
