What are members and groups vs. people?

The members of A2IM are organizations, not people. Thus, the social features of this site have been adapted from the default of a member being an individual.

Both Labels and Associates are groups and staff from your organization can be added to your group by you.

In addition, the various A2IM Committees, Local Chapters and the Board itself are groups in this “social framework.”

People can belong to more than one group, e.g. Dick Huey is the President of Toolshed, a member of the A2IM New Media Committee and the New York Local Chapter. In addition, Dick is on the Board of Advisors for Loud Feed, so you will see him as a “member” of all of these groups.

In a future release of the social tools we’re using we’ll be able to better define your role within a group’s functions on the site, e.g. “administrator,” and optionally your role for that group in the real world, e.g. “President.” Until then we trust A2IM members to behave well and recognize, who is running each group.
