Big Picnic Records, distributed by Sony/RED, launched in 2013. The label has a strategic relationship with Paradigm Talent Agency. Paradigm's Marty Diamond will provide A&R support to label general manager Patti Hauseman. Big Picnic's first release was the Shoestring EP by British singer/songwriter WALL on April 2, 2013. Influenced by artists such as St Vincent and Patti Smith, WALL takes her lead from women with a strong sense of identity. Favoring rudimentary recording equipment over state-of-the-art studios, WALL creates sparse soundscapes, with only muted bass lines and scattered keyboards to frame her voice. Pitchfork said of the EP's title track, "'Shoestring' feels like having a necessarily intimate conversation in a busy public place: there may be bigger and louder things going on elsewhere, but right now hearing what Wall has to say is the only thing that matters." Big Picnic's initial roster also includes Foxes and JOHNNYSWIM. Foxes is the alter ego of the London-based singer and musician Louisa Rose Allen. Her debut single "Youth," with its resplendent synths, industrial percussion and by turns searing and soaring vocal, garnered more than two million combined Soundcloud and YouTube plays, and 13,000 Hypemachine 'likes,' plus synchs on CW's "Gossip Girl." She followed it up with the "Warrior" EP in the summer of 2012, and is the featured vocalist on Zedd's fast-rising EDM single "Clarity." JOHNNYSWIM is the Los Angeles duo of Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez. The two began writing and singing together in 2006 and found that their similar influences of folk, soul, and rock blended together lusciously. Nashville's daily newspaper, The Tennessean, describes JOHNNYSWIM as "a mix of Lauryn Hill and John Mayer."

Once upon a time there was a teenage rocker named Joan Jett. She was making rock and roll history in a teenage group called The Runaways. When that band broke up, she met hit songwriter/producer Kenny Laguna. They saw in each other a kindred spirit and set about to work together. Kenny thought she was great, and expected no problem convincing record labels to put out the record they had just finished. But he was wrong; Joan Jett was rejected by 23 labels. They turned down "Bad Reputation". They turned down " Do You Wanna Touch Me". They could not hear the potential of " I Love Rock n' Roll" or "Crimson and Clover". So Joan and Kenny decided to start their own record company, manufacture their own records, and sell them...sometimes from the trunk of Kenny’s Cadillac. Blackheart Records was born and Joan Jett became the first woman in rock and roll to own her own record company. Blackheart Records is currently home to such up-and-coming groups as San Antonio-based female threesome Girl In A Coma (Both Before I'm Gone, Trio B.C., Adventures in Coverland) and Los Angeles' pop-punk trio the Dollyrots (Because I'm Awesome) and of course Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The label’s catalog includes The Vacancies, The Cute Lepers, The Eyeliners and more, while continuing to add new artists to its roster.

DFA Records is an independent record label based in New York City. It was founded in 2001 by Jonathan Galkin, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) & Tim Goldsworthy (Mo'Wax/UNKLE). Within the first year, the label released 2 12" vinyl singles - "House of Jealous Lovers" by The Rapture and "Losing My Edge" by LCD Soundsystem - that helped crystalize a moment and a movement simultaneously in the dance and indie communities growing in Brooklyn and soon after, far far beyond the 5 boroughs. From the success of these initial releases came more from The Juan Maclean, Hot Chip, Hercules & Love Affair, Shit Robot, Black Dice, Gavin Russom, Holy Ghost, Factory Floor and so many more vibrant idiosyncratic dance 12” singles DFA continues to be known for. By 2010, DFA label placed FIVE of these singles in the Pitchfork top 40 Singles of the Decade, was nominated for 3 Grammy Awards and sold out Madison Square Garden with the farewell show for James Murphy’s LCD Soundsystem.

Manifesto Records has released music from a celebrated list of artists. Although it was founded in 1993, Manifesto is the successor to indie labels dating back to 1968, beginning as Bizarre Records (and its companion label, Straight Records). Over the next several years, Bizarre signed artists such as Alice Cooper, Tim Buckley, Captain Beefheart, Ted Nugent, Wild Man Fischer, and others. Later, a third label, Discreet, was added, and the labels released albums until 1975. In 1988, the reactivated Bizarre/Straight reissued albums by Tim Buckley, Alice Cooper, The GTOs, Lord Buckley, Captain Beefheart, and others. In 1994, in addition to the core albums by Tom Waits (his earliest recordings, released as The Early Years Volumes 1 and 2), and six albums from Tim Buckley, Manifesto began to release new albums and re-issues, including albums by The Wedding Present, and, later, Cinerama, and other British bands like Sing-Sing and ballboy, tribute albums to Tom Waits and Tim Buckley, and the reunion album of Concrete Blonde, Lilys and Cranes. In 2005, The Wedding Present re-formed and Manifesto released the well-received Take Fountain, and later, El Rey. In 2001, Manifesto re-issued one of the most important catalogues in punk rock history — five albums by Dead Kennedys. Later, another live album was released, and in 2005 Manifesto also released Dead Kennedys’ first album, Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, in both an original version and a new package with a new documentary DVD entitled Fresh Fruit for Rotting Eyeballs. With these last releases, the entire Dead Kennedys catalogue is now on Manifesto. In 2014, Manifesto has released a box set of 7’ vinyl singles, the Dead Kennedys Original Singles Collection. In 2009, Manifesto became the home of the imprint for The Turtles, called FloEdCo. We have released The Turtles’ Save The Turtles: The Turtles’ Greatest Hits; vinyl re-issues of It Ain’t Me Babe and Happy Together; and three albums by Flo & Eddie. Manifesto Records will continue to release and re-issue quality recordings in the future. Please review our catalogue pages to see what is currently available. Manifesto is distributed by eOne Distribution in the U.S. and Canada, and by Proper Music Group in the UK, and H’ART Musikvertrieb for Europe.

Formed in 1990 originally under the name Mascot Records, and then Mascot-Provogue in 1999, the Mascot Label group has always maintained a dedication to integrity and success. After adapting the name, Mascot Label Group in 2010, the organization has been the umbrella label for the following four record companies: Mascot Rock label with artists like Volbeat, Gojira, Black Country Communion, Black Label Society, and even intergalactic superstar Bootsy Collins. Mascot Records is proud to have brought Volbeat to success from scratch starting in Europe. Thanks to several focused campaigns Mascot was able to achieve over 10 platinum and gold records. Their attendance at headlining shows went from under 100 to 10,000 people in just 3 years. Mascot=92s success was not limited to Europe, as we also brought them from infancy to over 100,000 records sold and over 500,000 tracks digital in America, selling well over 1,000,000 records in worldwide. In June 2012 we reached number 1 rock album chart entry in UK with our band Black Country Communion, as well as top chart positions in 10 European countries. Additionally, Bonamassa has collectively sold over 1,000,000 albums in Europe and charting the last 8 records in at least 10 countries. On what would have been famed country icon Eddy Arnold's 94th birthday, Plowboy Records has launched to celebrate and nurture the legacy of the original Tennessee Plowboy and provide a home for recorded projects that focus on American music regardless of genre. Plowboy's founders are Arnold's grandson and musician Shannon Pollard, author and music historian Don Cusic, and punk legend Cheetah Chrome. The first Plowboy Records release will be a new album from Bobby Bare, the GRAMMY award-winning Outlaw Country artist who has over 30 Top 20 singles. Bobby is currently recording at famed RCA Studio B in Nashville cutting a mix of traditional folk and blues songs, and contemporary Americana with a band that includes Buddy Miller, Randy Scruggs and other members of Robert Plant's Band Of Joy. Also currently being recorded is an Eddy Arnold tribute album, produced by Chrome, that will feature interpretations of Eddy's songs by traditional country artists, alt-country and indie rock bands. "The goal of the tribute album is to raise some eyebrows by matching up artists from multiple genres with signature Eddy Arnold songs," says Pollard. Watch this video of Cheetah, Shannon and Don discussing Plowboy Record's mission: http://youtu.be/bIMOaNL83j4 Eddy Arnold is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. He released over 100 albums and placed 147 songs on the Billboard country music charts including "Bouquet Of Roses" and "The Cattle Call." He had at least one charting single for the past seven straight decades. He passed away in 2008. Listen to Eddy's hits on Spotify: http://spoti.fi/KtEKuD Plowboy President Shannon Pollard is a veteran musician, a partner in a commercial real estate firm and the grandson of Eddy Arnold. He fondly recalls listening to albums with Arnold in his Brentwood, TN office, the same space where Plowboy Records is headquartered today. Pollard has also taught History of the Recording Industry classes at Belmont University in Nashville. Plowboy Director of Special Projects Don Cusic has taught classes on the music business since 1982. He has published 22 books including an Eddy Arnold biography and two novels. Quite Scientific is an independent record label based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 2006 by Justin Spindler, and brothers Brian and Jeremy Peters, it all started out with a simple idea to release some compilations of local acts in an effort to shine a light upon the talent within southern Michigan's music scene. Overnight it seems, QuiSci ( /kwī-sī/) evolved into the full fledged indie imprint that it is today (though we still haven't gotten around to putting out those comps). Though we have grown to include many artists from outside of the Michigan area, we still find ourselves focusing on the Midwest musicians, aesthetic, and general good atmosphere that seems to permeate the air surrounding the Great Lakes; we have beards, wear plaid, and enjoy a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously.
