As we reported to you previously, A2IM partnered with New York and Tennessee as both States were recipients of Federal Small Business Association STEP (State Trade and Export Program) Grant funding. This marks the first federal grant received by A2IM, bringing an estimated $200,000 plus in funding for A2IM New York and Tennessee based members in travel subsidies and overseas field for our mission to Asia.

The Obama Administration has stated that small and medium sized businesses (SME’s) that create intellectual property (IP) and jobs that spur exports abroad are an important part of their economic recovery plan to create jobs and improve America’s balance of trade and by doing so the overall economy. Our strengths and needs conform exactly to the Administration’s goals and plans, a perfect match and A2IM has made this export initiative a priority to add to independent music label’s domestic success by garnering overseas success as well to ensure overall business economic success.

The mission, which will take place from Wednesday Sept 5th through Thursday Sept 13, is aimed at increasing exports by A2IM’s small and medium-sized New York State and Tennessee based music businesses. The overseas initiative is targeted toward finding buyers of American musical IP in many areas. Buyers who can distribute America’s recorded music physically, digitally and via mobile thru licenses and distribution agreements with these distributors and/or overseas music labels and mobile carriers, via making connections to obtain synchronization licenses for use of music in film, TV, advertisements, games, etc. and via increased touring and merchandising revenue relationships for our artists.

The Trade Mission will travel to Seoul, South Korea, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Delegates traveling for this first of what we hope to be many trips include:

Each year, the Americana Music Festival & Conference brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars and industry professionals for four days of music and education.
