A2IM Announces 2012 Board of Directors Election Results A2IM, the American Association of Independent Music, announces the results of their 2012 Board of Directors elections as voted by the A2IM label membership. Newly elected A2IM Board of Directors (listed alphabetically): The board members were elected by A2IM’s membership of nearly 300 independent music labels, representing a diverse array of genres, geographic locations and label sizes. The three newly elected members will serve three-year terms on the Board of Directors. Additionally, A2IM welcomes Ed Vetri (President/CEO of Wind-up) to the President’s Advisory Committee, appointed by President Rich Bengloff to assist and lend his expertise to the organization. A2IM President’s Advisory Committee members reappointed due to their outstanding prior service: The new board’s term will begin on July 4, 2012 and will officially be introduced during the organization’s 7th Anniversary Indie Week in NYC June 19-21. Quote Excerpts from Incoming A2IM Board of Directors (listed alphabetically): Cathy Bauer (GM, Daptone Records): “[A2IM] pushes the agenda forward for all labels big and small, no matter the genre, the annual revenue, or the latest chart position. I hope to learn from and contribute to that agenda.” Chris Scully (GM, Glassnote Records): “It is an honor… I look forward to working with A2IM and the other members to ensure the collective voice of the Independent Music Community is represented in today’s evolving marketplace.” Darius Van Arman (Founder and Co-Owner, Jagjaguwar/Dead Oceans/Secretly Canadian): “I am excited to continue our work towards the goal of realizing a moment when there’s no meaningful distinction between indie and major.” The remainder of the organization’s board (all in the midst of three-year terms) is: Sub Pop VP of Business Affairs Eric Brown; Epitaph General Manager Dave Hansen; Yep Roc Records co-owner Tor Hansen; Alligator Records Founder/CEO Bruce Iglauer; The Beggars Group Founder/CEO Martin Mills; Naxos of America CEO Jim Selby; Tommy Boy CEO/Founder Tom Silverman; Razor & Tie COO Victor Zaraya. A2IM would like to express their gratitude to the three board members who, due to term limits, are stepping down at the end of the term: Glen Barros (Concord Records), Jim Cooperman (tinyOGRE), and Portia Sabin (Kill Rock Stars).
