AWOLNATION, Battles, Bon Iver Lead Artist Nominations for A2IM’s Inaugural Libera Awards Century Media, Jagjaguwar, Ninja Tune Snag Most Independent Label Nominations
Pandora, Official.fm, and eMusic Sponsor Independents’ Award Show A2IM today announces the nominees for the inaugural Libera Awards (The “Libbies”), taking place June 21 at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge and capping off A2IM’s annual Indie Week. The Libera Awards recognize the growing support and market share for independent artists by celebrating the accomplishments of independent musicians and the independent labels and services that support them. Eligible releases (January 1, 2011 – February 29, 2012) were narrowed down to six nominees per category (or seven in the case of a tie) by expert panels, including the most knowledgeable tastemakers, programmers, and professional supporters of independent music. The inaugural nominees indicate the diversity of the independent label community in terms of label sizes, geographic locations, and genres of music they release, as well as the critical and commercial success of independent labels investing in the creation of music by the artists they love. 2012 Libera Award Nominees: 21st Century Award – celebrating the service or platform most beneficial to independent labels & artists Best Independent Sync Placement – the most creative or most impactful use of independent music in a film/tv/ad campaign Creative Packaging Award – celebrating the best or most creative packaging – including bundled packages, premium offerings or artwork/design packaging – from an independent label or artist Independent Album of the Year presented by Official.FM Independent Video of the Year Independent Label of the Year (5 full time employees or fewer) Independent Label of the Year (6 or more employees) Light Bulb Award for Most Creative Marketing Campaign/Idea Music Supervisor – celebrating the music supervisor/licensing person who was especially supportive of independent music labels and artists Road Warrior of the Year – celebrating the independent label band/artist that was the most fan-engaged/worked hardest at their job in the last 12 months Up & Comer Award presented by eMusic – celebrating the next independent label superstar artist Said eMusic CEO and President Adam Klein, “We’re delighted to be a nominee for the Libbies’ 21st Century Award. eMusic has been dedicated to the independent music community since inception.
