As we messaged previously, A2IM has filed with the Federal Communications Commission related to the FCC’s recent request for comments related to media ownership rules. Notice of our filing was reported today in Billboard magazine. A2IM has previously filed when the FCC commenced their 2010 Quadrennial Media Ownership Rules review in 2010. The FCC’s initial ruling kept the current radio ownership rules status quo. At the same time the FCC also noted that they were still contemplating increasing allowed FM station ownership in an individual market from 5 stations to 8 stations and potentially higher station ownership caps in larger media markets. As radio station concentration has been of concern to A2IM members, as concentration has always meant less access as local ownership shrinks, we filed our oppositionto this potential ownership rule change.
