Established in 2004, 7digital is a digital media delivery company based in London and operating globally. We license music from all major and indie labels around the world, build superior software into our platform, and enable third parties to license the use of legal music in their devices, websites, and applications.
This secure and flexible platform approach has enabled 7digital to power nearly 500 companies’ global music initiatives in streaming and downloads. We also operate our own direct-to-consumer digital download stores with unique storefronts in 16+ countries across Europe, North America, and Asia, which enables us to learn directly from our own music stores.
7digital has seen huge growth recently in the device channel, driven by apps for Android and BlackBerry devices and the 7digital API (applications programming interface) used by developers and partners. The growth has been further expanded by 7digital’s services being pre-loaded on millions of devices from high profile manufacturers including Samsung, RIM, Sony Ericsson, Philips and Toshiba. Through our device offering, we just announced over one million active device users, with the most popular device being the Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone. 7digital’s own Android App, only recently launched, now has over 500,000 installs customers accessing 7digital’s services through Android devices with 7digital’s BlackBerry app reaching over 600,000 installs.
The North American business was launched in 2009 and is headed by Vickie Nauman, based in LA. The US and Canadian consumer stores are managed out of London by Anna Siegel. We are very excited to be a part of A2IM and are looking for opportunities to help grow the 7digital ecosystem.
