A2IM supported the main goal of the proposed Texas legislation, HB 3125 legislation, to reduce piracy, but opposed that it also would impose criminal liability for any violation of the terms of a contract related to live performances. We previously reported this to you on June 8^th, http://a2im.org/2011/06/08/a2im-asks-texas-governor-to-vote-against-proposed-music-legislation/ and A2IM sent Governor Perry a letter asking him to veto this legislation. We are happy to report the Governor Perry of Texas vetoed this legislation on June 17^th. http://governor.state.tx.us/news/veto/16296/

Our third annual Indie Week, celebrating A2IM’s Sixth Anniversary,  was a big success last week in NYC  with members in from around the country and our WIN colleagues in from all around the world, including members from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, etc., including a 20 person AIM/U.K. Trade & Investment mission delegation and a trade mission group from CAVA in China. We had over 350 attendees in total across the week’s events.

A2IM’s Radio Committee and senior executives from Clear Channel Radio continue to meet and discuss avenues to increase A2IM label member airplay on Clear Channel’s FM radio stations.

During our conversations, Clear Channel revealed that each of their stations has dedicated programming for independent and local music and that most of this music is submitted to them and discovered by their programmers via their New! Discover & Uncover Music program.
